Visionary Leadership
As the Digital Learning Coach at my school, I take on the visionary leadership role with enthusiasm. I definitely contribute to the development and implementation of our technology integration in collaboration with my principal, my curriculum coach, our school librarian and the staff. By involving the staff and the school community, we ensure that all policy-holders from the school understand our technology integration, it’s purpose and their vital role in it’s development.
Here are a couple of examples of the ongoing contributions I make in the development and communication of our school technology integration.
Technology Integration “Walk” - I planned and presented this staff development activity to raise awarness and bring more conversation among our staff member about the ways we all use tech in the classroom. During this activity, we gathered as a staff and I discussed the purpose of the activity and gave them their groups and discussion starters they could use while visiting each others classrooms. After the visits we gathered again to discuss what we learned, I took detailed digital notes veiwable to all. We discussed how we as a staff should have some grade level tech integration goals. This was by far one of the most productive I have seen my staff in seriously and enthusiatically discussing our tech integration! This lead me to the next artifact I shared below. (Sub standards a-d)
Madison Technology Grade Level Goals - I presented this to our staff after our "Technology Integration Walk" and discussion as a way of actively moving towards goals we discussed together, building agency. During each grade level meeting over the course of a month, I presented a simple skeleton-type frame to start and the teachers worked to fill it out to their goals based on where they are now and what they can realistically reach by next school year. The beginning of this school year we revisisted these goals and fine tuned them again. During this revision I found that the teachers were optimistic and making plans to integrate as we were discussing. Because of the success of both activities and their relation to each other, I will be doing them again mid-year. By mid-year our progress will have changed enough for the staff to see and appreciate the growth and be prepared and ready to set new tech integration goals. (Sub standards a-d)
